HIS STORY

After studying at the Kyiv Conservatory,
Georgiy Derbas-Richter began his international career as an opera singer at the Dutch National Opera in 2022.


In the 24/25 season he made his role debut as Harlekin in a new production of Ariadne auf Naxos with the Dutch Touring Opera.

A passionate interpreter of Ukrainian folk and art song, Georgiy is preparing a recital program and recording project featuring works by Mykola Lysenko,

As a member of the Dutch National Opera Studio, he sang roles such as Morales in Robert Carsen’s staging of Carmen, Hunter (Rusalka), Marco in Barrie Kosky’s new production of Gianni Schicchi (Il trittico), Lesbo in Kosky’s revival of Agrippina, and Curio in Calixto Bieito’s Giulio Cesare.

His repertoire includes Valentin (Faust), Demetrius (A Midsummer night’s dream), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Fritz (Die Tote Stadt) and Hamlet (Ambroise Thomas).
